Description and general information
Ascorbic acid is a colorless, odorless, solid crystal, with an acid taste and soluble in water. It is an organic acid, which has antioxidant properties, which come from sugar.
It is also known as vitamin C, which is a water-soluble vitamin that is present in fresh fruits and vegetables, such as citrus fruits and vegetables like cauliflower, red bell pepper, chili and parsley.
It can take the form of a powder or yellowish-white crystals.
Ascorbic acid is essential for a healthy body, and it is this vitamin that helps form collagen and prevents illnesses, among other benefits.
It can be administered orally, intravenously, or intramuscularly.
Human beings cannot synthesize ascorbic acid by themselves, that is why a balanced diet is recommended. A lack of ascorbic acid may cause scurvy, a deficiency disease.

The main use of ascorbic acid has been and still is in medicine. It has been used to treat a great variety of ailments and/or diseases, such as the common cold, acne, depression and gum infections.
This substance is essential to the human organism and even more so because it contributes to the repair of tissues and the formation of collagen.
It is currently used as prophylaxis and treatment of vitamin C deficiency states, such as

- Stress states
- Exhaustion
- Smoking
- Acute or chronic infections
